VideoArchitecture.com Facilities + People
My current use of Spherical Panoramas is to tell a story about Interior Spaces for video but there are numerous ways to use Panoramic Imaging for still and video projects. My work with this style of shooting started 15 years ago. The MGM Grand in Las Vegas was my first use of interior panoramas.
Today Google has made geo located spherical panoramas available to the World with Street Views. If you have used Google Maps you know this technology has been mainstream for a long time.
There are many ways to use stitched still images. This section of my web site looks at a few of my ideas how panoramas are used today with High Dynamic Range IBL, Animation & Virtual Tours.
Cost effective shooting of Facilities, wherever they may be, whatever they may be, typically involves a combination of video and still capture. A Healthcare shoot may have a dolly shot in a Public Access area but still High Dynamic Range images of Patient Rooms.
For 5 years I have devoted my free time to creating techniques for capturing both visual mediums, video and still. High quality shooting techniques that travel well are the basis of my current work.
While video production tends to be a team sport, my goal is to create as small a team as possible. Not always easy but often times necessary for many B2B Productions.
In this section I look at Facilities shoots. For me the fusion of Still and Video provides limitless creative opportunities for this type of work.
My first large Client was Ringling Brothers Barnum Bailey & Disney on Ice. For the better part of 8 years I photographed Executives, Circus Folk and talented skating Mickeys.
Today my early Portrait work has progressed into Video Profiles. In shooting Profiles of people I spend more time in Pre-Production than was the case in shooting a Still Portrait. Successful video projects rarely just happen. They do take some planning, often times lots. The real key here is how much actual footage is needed for the Production. How long does someone need to be on camera? How many Cameras?
In this section of my web site I look at my work flow for shooting B2B video of People. Examining their Projects and Passions are the essence of Content Marketing today.
Every year I buy GoPro Cameras as the new models come out. The imaging quality, Video and Still, has risen substantially since the first version. They are great for shooting Public Spaces, mounting on cars, attaching to construction equipment, you name it.
The increased popularity of flying Radio Controlled Aerial Drones in the last few years is directly related to the GoPro. I work with three Quadcopters and can see buying more. After 850 hours of training and flight time I am more convinced than ever of their value. Joined the Academy of Model Aeronautics to further my study. Given the current evolution I suspect FAA licensing will be required in the near future.
This section of my web site is in it's infancy but I see lots of potential for Hospitality, Construction and Facilities Architecture galore.
Special Work shooting can be Pro Bono, experimental in nature or collaborating with colleagues on their work. Creating Videos and Panoramas of Historic Architecture has been and remains a favorite area of Special Work. I have photographed the U.S. Supreme Court, Library of Congress, White House Visitor Center and the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC.
In this section I examine current and past shoots of note that might interest others. Drone Aerial Panoramas in New Mexico and Arizona are my current areas of interest.
My latest Ideas, Projects of note, Collaborations with others can be found on Twitter and my Tumblr Blog. Click on the logos above to visit these sites.
I also send out current ideas videos via email. If you would like to see my latest brilliant Production epiphanies, tips and tricks for shooting ordinary Folks and amazing Facilities please fill out the Contact Form below to join my MailChimp List. Goes out about six times a year.
While I pursue work in many areas, my main hubs are Washington DC and Scottsdale AZ. Twenty years ago I split my business in two and moved to Arizona. In 2009 I purchased a Horse Property and converted a portion of the Stables to my current work area in Arizona. My base in Washington for 20 years has been Glover Park between American and Georgetown University in NorthWest DC.
With the assistance of many talented people I create still and moving imagery of Facilities and People. Some of my Production shoots are more involved and require a larger crew. Many can be done with just a few folks. Almost all involve still and video capture. Video cameras that shoot still images and still cameras that shoot amazing video footage epitomize the visual marketplace of today. I am blessed with the skills and opportunity to create both.
